He was born in 1938 in Kraków, spent the war years in the Middle East, and was educated in England. He studied at University College, London, where he earned his B.A. Hons and M.A. From 1965 to 2004 he was Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He is currently Emeritus. In 1977-8 he served as Visiting Professor at the University of Nice. He is the recipient of three literary awards; his poetry has been the subject of a book in Polish; and, in 2016, a conference devoted to his work was held at the University of Rzeszów.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eAllan H. Simmons\u003c\/b\u003e is Emeritus Professor of English Literature at St Mary's University, Twickenham, London. His research interests are directed towards the works of Joseph Conrad. He is the General Editor of The Cambridge Edition of the Works of Joseph Conrad for which he has edited a number of scholarly editions including \u003ci\u003eAn Outcast of the Islands\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eThe Nigger of the 'Narcissus'\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eA Set of Six\u003c\/i\u003e. He is also one of the General Editors of \u003ci\u003eThe Conradian\u003c\/i\u003e, the journal of the Joseph Conrad Society.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e John G.
